Psychology:

When seeing a psychologist, you will need a referral letter and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP if you intend on claiming $98.95 medicare rebates. 

• Initial session (50 minutes): $265
• With MHCP: Medicare rebate of $98.95
• Out-of-pocket cost: $166.05

• Standard session (50 minutes): $255
• With MHCP: Medicare rebate of $98.95
• Out-of-pocket cost: $156.05

Counselling:

• Initial session (50 minutes): $175
• Standard session (50 minutes, business hours): $150
• After-hours session (50 minutes, from 5:00pm weekdays or Saturdays): $175

• Couples session (60 minutes): $290

Medicare does not provide a rebate for general counselling or couples counselling.
